Haley James Racing Takes on Lights Out 16 in Adel, Georgia
This weekend, some of the best racers in the world will gather in Adel, Georgia, for Lights Out 16, one of the premier drag racing events of the season. Among the competitors in the Ultra Street class are Haley James and Kieffer Simpson, a dynamic duo out of Ocklawaha, Florida, who are ready to make their mark once again.
Racing Roots and Family Ties
Kieffer Simpson’s journey in drag racing began with bracket racing and junior dragsters. He credits these early experiences with shaping him into the competitor he is today, teaching him discipline, precision, and the importance of consistency. His background in bracket racing has given him a unique edge on the track, allowing him to adapt to different challenges and fine-tune his reaction times.
Haley James, on the other hand, was raised inthe world of outlaw racing. Her passion for the sport runs deep, and it was at the track where she met Kieffer. Together, they have built a formidable partnership, both on and off the track. Racing is more than just a sport for them—it’s a way of life.
A True Family-Run Operation
One of the most impressive aspects of Haley James Racing is that it’s a small, family-run team competing at the highest level. While many top-tier teams have extensive resources and corporate backing, Haley and Kieffer rely on their tight-knit crew and strong partnerships to keep them competitive.
The Machines: War Eagle and American Xpress
Haley and Kieffer pilot two incredible machines—War Eagle and American Xpress. Both Mustangs are powered by Coyote engines with Precision turbos, making them serious contenders in the Ultra Street class. The cars feature Heads from RGR, M&M transmissions, and receive valuable support from Damon Cole. With such a well-built combination, it’s no surprise that one of them has been in the finals for the last six Ultra Street races.
However, their recent success has not gone unnoticed. Due to their dominance, their combination was hit with a 100-pound weight penalty to help even out the field. Despite this challenge, they remain focused and determined to push the limits. Their goal for this weekend? To run a blistering 4.45 at 161 mph.
A Strong Team Behind the Scenes

- Owner/Tuner: Dwayne James
- Chassis/Crew Chief: Johnny “Drama” Maguda
- Fabricator/Welder: Jim Stamp
- Assistant Crew Chief: Klein Simpson
- Crew Member: Renee Matousek
