During the War in the Woods race this past weekend, things took a turn when Danny Wachowski, filling in for driver Mat Gaskin, lost control at the finish line, causing a bad crash that left everyone shocked.
Gaskin had to leave the event early because of a family emergency, so he asked Wachowski to drive his car, even though Wachowski had never driven it or raced on that tough track surface before.
Fortunately, Wachowski walked away from the wreck without a single injury, thanks to a well built cage built by Edward Strothoff.
Gaskin was thankful for Strothoff’s great work on the car, which kept Wachowski safe.
“You can replace a car, but not a person,” Gaskin said, happy that Wachowski was okay and could go home to his wife.
“I’d like to also send my condolences to my wife’s family on the passing of her mother unexpectedly.”
“She was one of my biggest fans and always sent good vibes everytime we headed to a race.”
