The Nitrous Pro Mod class at the 2025 DragCoverage Night of Fire event went into the record books, delivering the fastest Nitrous Pro Mod field in SNRA history. With 18 nitrous-Pro Mods trying to qualify over 2 days, the class achieved the first-ever 3-second field in SNRA competition. Bankston Boys’ Kyle Megginson, the previous SNRA Champion, came out on top, dominating the field. His performance not only solidified his status as a top contender in the Nitrous Pro Mod ranks but also strengthened his campaign to lock up the 2025 SNRA Championship. Megginson’s win in this historic event further cements his path toward another title.
The qualifying rounds were packed with drama, including a last-gasp effort from Johnny Pilcher, who squeezed into the eight-car field during the final qualifying attempt. Pilcher’s 3.959-second run at 184 MPH secured his spot, adding to the intensity of an already exciting session. Meanwhile, JT Thompson and his car, the Fugitive, narrowly missed the cut, posting a 3.994-second run at 185 MPH that fell just short of the 3.95 bump spot, leaving them on the outside of the historic field.
Fan-favorite Jerry Bird, known for his Street Outlaws fame, kept spectators on edge with his runs early on. He held the #1 qualifying position up until Tricia Musi’s last qualifying attempt. Tragically, a mechanical failure before the finals forced him out of contention, leaving fans disappointed but still cheering.
Doug Reister also left his mark, earning a qualifying spot in this record-breaking field.
The SNRA Nitrous Pro Mod class’s 3-second field, highlighted by Musi’s heart-pounding qualifying run, Pilcher’s last-second heroics, Megginson’s triumphant victory, and standout efforts from drivers like Bird and Reister, has redefined SNRA competition.
Despite Thompson’s near-miss, the intensity of this event left fans with anticipation for the next chapter of SNRA, as Megginson charges toward the 2025 championship.
