The NHRA Southern Nationals, a 40-year staple at Atlanta Dragway, returns in 2025 at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) in Adel, Georgia, for NHRA’s 75th anniversary.
Atlanta Dragway closed in 2021 due to urban sprawl, rising costs, and redevelopment into industrial and residential space. SGMP, one of our favorite 1/4-mile tracks, will host the legendary event May 1-3, featuring Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
With a history of iconic wins by Shirley Muldowney and Ashley Force Hood, the revived Southern Nationals promises excitement, honoring its legacy while forging a new chapter for Southern drag racing fans.
