The drag racing community is mourning the loss of longtime racer and devoted Christian, Ed Robbins, who tragically lost his life Saturday night in an accident at Jackson Dragway, Tennessee.
Out of respect for the family, news of the accident was initially kept private, but friends and fellow racers have since come forward to honor the man behind the wheel — not just the racer, but the faithful friend they admired for decades.
Close friend Michael Upchurch said what truly defined Ed wasn’t just his love for racing — it was his unwavering faith.
“There hasn’t been anyone I can remember who was as vocal and passionate about his relationship with Jesus,” his friend said. “It was plastered all over his car. You couldn’t get him to stop talking about Jesus.”
