At the PDRA Night of Champions, one of the most meaningful honors of the evening belonged to Melanie Salemi, who was named the 2025 recipient of the Lizzy Musi Award — an award that carries deep emotion, purpose, and legacy within the sport.

The Lizzy Musi Award was first introduced at the 2024 Night of Champions by PDRA Series Director Tyler Crossnoe, Red Line Synthetic Oil Brand Director Mark Beatty, and Pat & Liz Musi of Pat Musi Racing Engines. Created to honor Lizzy Musi’s remarkable strength, determination, and groundbreaking influence, the award recognizes a female in drag racing who pushes the sport forward with the same grit Lizzy displayed both on and off the racetrack. The award debuted with its first recipient, Pro 632 World Champion Amber Denton, and has now continued its mission in powerful fashion with Salemi being selected for 2025.
The custom trophy, designed by Travis Theobald and featuring Lizzy’s iconic LM signature, symbolizes passion, perseverance, and the powerful role women continue to play in drag racing.
A humbled and emotional Melanie Salemi expressed what the honor meant, saying,
“This recognition means a great deal to me. Lizzy Musi was a fierce competitor whose impact reached far beyond the racetrack. She inspired women everywhere to push boundaries with grit, determination, and dedication—whether behind the wheel, in the pits, or in the stands. Thank you to the Musi Family and PDRA for presenting this award to me. I’m honored to represent female racers across the sport and help pave the way for the next generation.”
A deserving honor presented to Melanie – congratulations.
