McNEAL SHATTERS TRACK RECORD, NEELY WINS BIG — DRAGFEST DAY 1 RECAP!

With a record-setting crowd and record car count for DragFest, the atmosphere at Gulfport was electric from the first burnout to the final pass.

The biggest headline of the night belonged to Jacob McNeal.

McNeal didn’t just go No. 1 — he rewrote the history books.

His blistering 3.634 at 210.48 MPH officially reset the track record at Gulfport Dragway, a facility with roots dating back to 1972, making it the quickest and fastest pass ever recorded at the track and the fastest pass and highest MPH ever recorded in the state of Mississippi.

Before McNeal’s historic blast, Joey Martin held the top spot after the first qualifying round and looked strong with a 3.69 hit, but McNeal answered in a big way in round two.

Another major storyline was Tricia Musi, the only female in the Pro Mod field, who threw down a stout 3.834 at 197 MPH and proved she’s right in the hunt heading into eliminations.
