Drag Racing will remain at center of new development at Mooresville Dragway – “Race City Motorpark”
Mooresville Dragway has been sold to new owner Matt Erich, who has unveiled plans for a proposed $50 million motorsports complex known as Race City Motorpark & Social Club. While many racers feared the historic facility could be lost to development, Erich says drag racing will remain at the center of the project’s future.
The current facility closed following a shortened 2026 season, and construction activities began June 1. Plans include a rebuilt dragstrip, road course, luxury garages, clubhouse, and additional amenities, with the track website advertising a new facility coming in 2027.
