A counterfeit NHRA chassis certification tag has resulted in disqualification, a $2,500 fine and a one-year suspension for racer Anthony D’Aversa.
According to NHRA’s October 12 statement, D’Aversa’s vehicle was found to have a counterfeit tag during an NHRA member track event at Toronto Motorsports Park.

D’Aversa was disqualified from the event and suspended for one year from competition at both NHRA-sanctioned events and NHRA member track events. He must also successfully complete a chassis inspection before participating in a future NHRA event.
The ruling highlights the serious consequences of falsifying chassis certification. For racers purchasing a used race car, it also serves as a reminder to verify its certification with NHRA rather than relying solely on the presence of a tag.
Two Top Dragster Racers Also Disqualified
The same statement announced penalties for David Jordan (L037) and Robert Churchill (L038) following the 2026 Lucas Oil event at World Wide Technology Raceway.
NHRA reported that both drivers recorded elapsed times quicker than 6.000 seconds in Top Dragster, violating its Top Sportsman/Top Dragster Index Enforcement Policy.
Both were disqualified and will receive zero points for the event. The race will also count as one of each driver’s eligible scored events for the 2026 season.
