Roanoke, Alabama’s Timmy Smith collected $20,000 Sunday at Montgomery International Dragway, but winning a race honoring his dad carried a meaning money couldn’t match.

Smith defeated Robby Callahan to win the 2026 Mike Smith Memorial Race, adding another special victory to his 2023 win while wearing his father’s helmet.

Mike Smith earned the respect of many throughout the racing community. His memory continues to bring racers and families together.

“I wish my dad was here, but I know he was here with me,” Timmy said.

He thanked Brad Wheeler and Montgomery International Dragway for giving his family a place to honor Mike.
