DRAG RACING TEAM OWNER FLETCHER COX ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM NFL AFTER 12 SEASONS

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, drag racing team owner Fletcher Cox announced his retirement from the NFL after 12 seasons. The Yazoo, City, Mississippi star was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012 and had the privilege of representing the City of Philadelphia and the Eagles organization for 12 straight seasons.

The Eagles stated that Fletcher Cox is “one of the Eagles’ all-time greatest defensive players.”

Cox said “After much reflection, I have made the decision to retire from the game of football. I gave everything I had to this team and to this city. I don’t know what’s next for me, but I do know that I’m forever grateful for my time here in Philadelphia and with the Eagles organization.”

“Growing up in Yazoo City, there aren’t many athletes who have a chance to compete at a professional level, let alone dream of becoming a World Champion. I’m proud to represent my hometown, the State of Mississippi, and Mississippi State University, but Philly has been my home for the last 12 years and will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Cox spends most of his spare time drag racing and says it’s his next best enjoyment after football. Cox’s brother introduced him to drag racing and he dreamed of one day racing and owning a team.

He first started drag racing in high school and was actually driving the car. He realized how important his career was and took a step back from the driving duties and eventually became a team owner, competing on a professional level. Cox is very active on the team and enjoys working in the pits.

DragCoverage wishes Fletcher Cox success as he transitions to his next phase of life. We hope to see more of him at the drag strip and back into the driver’s seat!
