{"id":2863,"date":"2025-03-29T20:45:33","date_gmt":"2025-03-29T20:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/?p=2863"},"modified":"2025-03-29T20:45:33","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T20:45:33","slug":"ihra-finalizes-purchase-of-galot-motorsports-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/?p=2863","title":{"rendered":"IHRA Finalizes Purchase of GALOT Motorsports Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BENSON, N.C. \u2014 The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) announced today it has finalized the purchase of GALOT Motorsports Park.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/img_0971-1.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2861\" width=\"640\" height=\"624\"><\/p>\n<p>GALOT is a state-of-the-art facility near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 40. IHRA Owner Darryl Cuttel purchased the former Dunn-Benson Dragstrip from the Wells family who bought the track in 2013 and transformed it into a first-class racing facility over the last decade.<\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina track has a temperature-controlled racing surface, known for being the flattest in the world. It allows racers to achieve maximum performance.<\/p>\n<p>It features stadium seating for 9,000 spectators and two climate-controlled tower suites. There are LED scoreboards and a host of amenities. They include an on-site restaurant, a climate-controlled starting line, asphalt parking, a speed shop and RV electrical hook-ups.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/img_0970-1.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2862\" width=\"1160\" height=\"607\">\ufffc<\/p>\n<p>GALOT hosts a variety of racing events as well as truck shows, tractor pulls and concerts. It is set to host the PDRA East Coast Nationals presented by FuelTech on April 2-5. Another major event on the schedule is the IHRA Night of Fire on June 27-28.<\/p>\n<p>Former IHRA Division Director Josh Peake serves as the dragway\u2019s general manager.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to announce we have acquired this first-class racing facility,\u201d IHRA CEO Christian Byrd said. \u201cIt is both racer and spectator-friendly track which has proven to be a great host of special events.
