In a world where the top 32 are separated by around a hundredth, \u201cpretty good\u201d is another word for \u201cgoing home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2354\" data-end=\"2404\">That\u2019s why the target isn\u2019t 30 horsepower anymore.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2406\" data-end=\"2421\">It\u2019s five. A real setup, with a <strong data-start=\"3868\" data-end=\"3907\">complete console and steering wheel<\/strong> in front of it \u201cjust like you\u2019re sitting in the car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3963\" data-end=\"3996\">And then he did what Steve does:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3998\" data-end=\"4056\">\u201cI hit that thing a hundred times a day every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4058\" data-end=\"4160\">Not to prove he can cut a light \u2014 he already knows that. He does it to identify what causes a bad one.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4162\" data-end=\"4221\">Because the enemy isn\u2019t reaction time. That\u2019s the data.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4364\" data-end=\"4606\">He can even quantify the drift: he told DragCoverage his reaction time slows about <strong data-start=\"4447\" data-end=\"4454\">.02<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"4460\" data-end=\"4480\">6 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/strong>, consistently.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4813\" data-end=\"4846\">And his mindset is sniper-simple:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4848\" data-end=\"4872\">\u201cAim small, miss small.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4874\" data-end=\"5016\">He\u2019s aiming for <strong data-start=\"4890\" data-end=\"4898\">.002<\/strong>. Because when you aim at \u201cpretty good,\u201d your miss becomes ugly. The margins weren\u2019t tenths or hundredths.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6346\" data-end=\"6368\">They were thousandths.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6370\" data-end=\"6404\">And Steve didn\u2019t roll in hopeful.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6406\" data-end=\"6428\">He rolled in finished.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6430\" data-end=\"6509\">No thrashing in the pits.<br \/>\nNo last-minute engine builds.<br \/>\nNo checklist chaos.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6511\" data-end=\"6549\">Service the car.
