Today? I\u2019ve personally seen brand-new rolling junior dragsters listed north of $20,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Yes. Rolling.
No engine. No clutch. No extras.
Over twenty thousand dollars.<\/p>\n

Let that sink in for a second.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll Never Be That Guy\u2026\u201d<\/h2>\n

Growing up, I used to laugh at my dad when he\u2019d say things like:<\/p>\n

    And when entry-level racing creeps toward the price of a new car down payment, that\u2019s when people start asking uncomfortable questions.<\/p>\n

    How Much Does It Take to Be Competitive?<\/h2>\n

    Here\u2019s the part that makes this conversation even tougher.<\/p>\n

    The cars today are incredible.<\/p>\n

    The consistency.
    The data.
    The chassis quality.

    Garage-Built vs. Checkbook Racing<\/h2>\n

      It\u2019s not that you can\u2019t<\/em> build something at home.
      It\u2019s that the barrier to entry feels higher.<\/p>\n

      Which raises a tough question:<\/p>\n

      Is drag racing slowly becoming a rich man\u2019s sport?<\/p>\n

      \u201cI Wish I Had Your Money\u201d<\/h2>\n

      We\u2019ve all heard it in the pits.<\/p>\n

      \u201cMan, I wish I had your money.\u201d<\/p>\n

      And the reply is almost always:<\/p>\n

      \u201cMe? I\u2019m broke.\u201d<\/p>\n

      And the funny part is\u2026 both people probably mean it.<\/p>\n

      Because this sport has a way of making almost everyone feel stretched.<\/p>\n

      You can make good money and still feel like racing drains it faster than you can earn it.<\/p>\n

      So What\u2019s the Future?<\/h2>\n

      Here\u2019s the truth:<\/p>\n

      I don\u2019t have all the answers.<\/p>\n

      This isn\u2019t a doom-and-gloom piece. It\u2019s not a statistics breakdown. It\u2019s not meant to point fingers at chassis builders, parts manufacturers, or engine guys.<\/p>\n

      Costs are up everywhere \u2014 materials, labor, shipping, insurance. Racing doesn\u2019t live in a bubble.<\/p>\n

      But it does make you wonder:<\/p>\n

        How are families supposed to consistently get their kids into juniors?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        Even with the rising costs\u2026<\/p>\n

        The pits are still full.
        Kids still light up when they fire their cars.
        Parents still sacrifice to make it happen.
        Competitors still chase thousandths like their life depends on it.<\/p>\n

        Maybe that\u2019s the real point.<\/p>\n

        Racing has never been \u201ccheap.\u201d
        But for a long time, it felt attainable.<\/p>\n

        Now it feels\u2026 heavier.<\/p>\n
