Bringing the Southern Nationals to SGMP required more than vision. It required execution at a level few track owners ever reach.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"894\" data-end=\"930\">\u201cIt has been non-stop,\u201d Torres said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"932\" data-end=\"962\">That may be an understatement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1060\">To meet NHRA national event standards, SGMP underwent a series of major infrastructure upgrades:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1407\">\n<li data-section-id=\"t6uota\" data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1108\"><strong data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1108\">Over 6,000 linear feet of wall needed the height increased<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"6h5e7n\" data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1174\"><strong data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1144\">Scoreboards relocated 25 feet<\/strong>\u2014a deceptively complex project<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"asm1q9\" data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1278\"><strong data-start=\"1177\" data-end=\"1278\">A turnoff more than 1,000 feet past the scoreboards closed and reconfigured<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1s1cn6j\" data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1338\">Installation of a <strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1338\">complete top-end containment system<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1uuzo74\" data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"1407\">Addition of <strong data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1372\">2,000 new seats<\/strong> to accommodate the expected crowds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1536\">These aren\u2019t cosmetic improvements. These are fundamental changes to how a facility operates at the highest level of the sport.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1538\" data-end=\"1559\">The total investment?<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1585\">\n<p data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1585\">\u201cClose to $1 million.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1587\" data-end=\"1684\">That number tells part of the story. When the event comes, it\u2019s time to have fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3341\" data-end=\"3428\">That philosophy now defines how he approaches one of the biggest moments of his career.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"18h6zo0\" data-start=\"3435\" data-end=\"3456\">Working With NHRA<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3458\" data-end=\"3543\">For a track stepping onto the national stage, the relationship with NHRA is critical.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3545\" data-end=\"3564\">Torres\u2019 experience?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3566\" data-end=\"3578\">\u201cExcellent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3580\" data-end=\"3746\">That single word carries weight.
