{"id":4368,"date":"2026-07-17T19:25:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/?p=4368"},"modified":"2026-07-17T19:36:59","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T19:36:59","slug":"the-price-to-spectate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/?p=4368","title":{"rendered":"The Price to Spectate?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We recently saw a post where spectators suggested that $20 is too expensive for spectator admission and that race tracks should charge just $7 to get in.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3bdae26e-6cc8-488c-adcc-2d75d8337dea-1-1.png\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4367\" width=\"1143\" height=\"1376\"><\/p>\n<p>But with the rising cost of materials, staffing, insurance, utilities, track prep, equipment, maintenance and race purses, is $7 admission really feasible in 2026?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s do the math.<\/p>\n<p>Say a race costs a track $20,000 to put on after the purse, staff and operating expenses.<\/p>\n<p>1,000 spectators at $7 = $7,000<br \/>\n1,000 spectators at $10 = $10,000<br \/>\n1,000 spectators at $20 = $20,000<\/p>\n<p>At $7 admission, the track is $13,000 short.<br \/>\nAt $10 admission, the track is still $10,000 short.<br \/>\nEven at $20, that\u2019s just breaking even in this example \u2014 with nothing left to reinvest in the facility or prepare for the next event.<\/p>\n<p>People spend $100+ taking the family out for a few hours without thinking twice\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But charge $20 to get into a race track and suddenly it\u2019s \u201ctoo expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/DragCoverage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/img_4228.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4366\" width=\"1125\" height=\"1441\"><\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfb3 Bowling + shoes: $25+ per person<br \/>\n\ud83c\udfac Movie + snacks: $30+ per person<br \/>\n\ud83d\udd79\ufe0f Arcade: $30+ per person<br \/>\n\ud83d\udd10 Escape room: $35+ per person<br \/>\n\ud83c\udfa4 Concert: $50\u2013$150+ per person<br \/>\n\ud83c\udfc1 Hours of live racing: $20<\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you:<\/p>\n<p>Why is $20 too expensive for some people to watch hours of live racing, but they\u2019ll spend even more for two hours of bowling?<\/p>\n<p>We think tracks should be allowed to increase spectator and entry fees, as parts manufacturers have, to stay in business.
