Article by Angel Hardaway

June 11, 2017, A Day Tre Lawson will remember for the rest of his life. After leaving a long day at the racetrack Tre and his brothers were driving home when they got into an accident leaving him on a new life journey to walk again. Just weeks after graduating high school Tre was facing four different brain injuries, spine, spinal cord, and abdominal damage from the crash.

In a blink of an eye, he went from the number one 300 hurdler in the state of Georgia to relearning how to do everything.

In Tre’s eyes being left paralyzed after the accident was not an option. Just five years later and many hours of challenging work he has defeated the wheelchair.

Working hard every day has led him to now walking with assistance. His advice to those going through a challenge is “Sometimes you have to get knocked down lower than you’ve ever been, to stand taller than you ever were”! Since his accident he has found a new passion for photography in the racing world.

He has his own brand called Sweetness Photography.

Tre has been around the racing community all his life! He grew up at his hometown track Twiggs County Dragway now known as Middle Georgia Motorsports Park. He started this newfound love for taking photos of fast cars while attending a racing event. In the mist of enjoying the day his friend allowed him to borrow his camera. After shooting some pictures Tre knew this is what he wanted to do. He strives to get better and better with every picture taken.

When asked why he loves racing so much Tre replied “What I like most is Inside those gates regardless the color of your skin, or even regardless of your mobility everyone’s treated the same! You meet so many amazing people and make so many friends that last for a lifetime.” With a growing business and a strong-willed mind, Tre is on full send to making his life the best he possible can even with obstacles.
