NHRA’s Major Announcement at PRI: Tony Stewart to Drive NHRA Top Fuel Dragster in 2024; Leah Pruett Stepping Aside

Indianapolis, IN — The first big announcement at the Performance Racing Industry Show was from the NHRA Booth with Brian Lohnes, Leah Pruett, and Tony Stewart.

Tony Stewart will be replacing Leah Pruett in the seat of the TSR (Tony Stewart Racing) Top Fuel Dragster, following his season in Top Alcohol Dragster. Leah Pruett will be stepping aside to focus on their family and her auto immune disease that she announced during the press conference.

Pruett will start the 2024 Season at Bradenton Motorsports Park and this will be her last time in the driver’s seat. Stewart recently had shoulder surgery, around Thanksgiving, so his start time is unknown as it will depend on his recovery and rehab.

Stewart said “this was an extremely difficult decision but I’m happy that Neal Strausbaugh, Mike Domagala, Leah and team are confident in my driving abilities. I thought for sure Leah would delay her driving duties, but here we are. I am excited of this opportunity.”
