First Look: Ducky Johnson’s 1969 Harry Glass Pro Nitrous Camaro

Panama City, FL — Charlie Johnson and the Ducky Johnson racing team has made the step to the Pro Nitrous category with this Teddy Houser Built 1969 Camaro and it is one beautiful hotrod.  While obtaining information of this wicked ride, we quickly realized that this car in particular has a lot of history.

The first thing we realized is that this piece has Stevie “Fast” Jackson written all over it, who purchased it to compete in the Pro Nitrous field after selling his small tire mustang.  Before Stevie, it was owned by one of the baddest grudge racers in the country – “the Rock.” Jay Cox had the hotrod for sale and Johnson saw it as a great opportunity to step into the world of Promod racing.

But, yeah, Stevie originally had the car setup for a Pro Charger, which explains why the original front end has a massive circle removed from the grille.

Art Gravatt of Litte Art Race Cars finished the final touches with the help of Pilcher’s Performance, who completed the wiring and other aspects. Art built headers, wheelie bars, mounted the front end, hood-scoop, setup the chassis for the new engine, and several other things.

Other features of this ride include a Harry Glass Carbon Fiber body, 872″ Reher Morrison engine, 3-Speed Rossler Turbo 400 Transmission, Neal Chance Converter, and titanium from one end to the other.

“I’ve always wanted to own a Promod,” said Charlie Johnson. “There’s something about a promod that makes it more unique that most cars. The small tire cars are cool and I enjoy racing the firebird, but I’m looking forward to learning all of the pieces that this car has to offer.”

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their help in getting this car complete. Stevie “Fast” has also been a huge help in getting it set up.”

The Ducky Johnson Racing team plans to compete in the Southern Nitrous Race Association in 2017 with this car, which went down the track for the first time on Sunday.

The driving duties will include Johnny Pilcher and Patrick Clenney.

Be sure to look out for this hotrod which will get a fresh wrap in the near future. We will be sure to keep you posted on DragCoverage of their season adventures.
