Atmore, AL — Sunday, August 7, 2016 will go down in the books at the biggest crowd in the History of Atmore Dragway in Atmore, AL. Thousands of spectators traveled from across the country to attend the DragCoverage Outlaws Event, featuring Daddy Dave vs Kye Kelley and several stars from the hit show “Street Outlaws New Orleans.” Only two hours into the event, event promoter TJ Pruitt and Track Owner Gary Moore were forced to closed the gates, making this the first time Atmore Dragway has ever sold out.
Fans traveled as far as Wisconsin to see their favorite TV stars, Daddy Dave, Kye Kelley, Crazy Dave, Darryl Bird, Todd Skelton’s Predator, Shane Lester, and the unique “Swamp Thing Long Top.” Other local outlaw racers included Ben “Up in Smoke” Adams, Doyle Ellis, Tyler Lee, WT Keys, Kevin Hadley, and Justin Sowell. Crazy Dave was named race warden.
The rules and race format of the event were pretty simple. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough. When the dusk and smoke cleared, it was Kye Kelley taking home bragging rights as he defeated Daddy Dave twice, who red-lit during both match races. Fans evenly cheered on for both Dave and Kye.
The other match race results include “Swamp Thing” defeating Shane Lester twice, Jerry and Darryl Bird’s “The Probe” defeating both WT Keys and Kevin Hadley, Todd Skelton beating local hero Jessie McConnico, and Doyle Ellis defeating Tyler Lee.
TJ Pruitt said “I can’t thank Dave, Kye, the Street Outlaws New Orleans racers, our local racers, and the fans enough for supporting this event. It’s success was a reflection of your hard work and dedication to attending this race.”
“I think the answer has yet to be answered on who’s faster, Dave or Kye. Both are running really well and we are already discussing a rematch with all the racers.”
In the sportsman category, it was Jonathan Booth who dominated the No-Box class. In the Box Class, Thomas Holley marched his No-Box Camaro through a field of electronics to win the class.
The next DragCoverage.com event will be held in the Spring 2017 as the Night of Fire invades Atmore Dragway with 200 MPH Outlaw Promods.
