Reigning NHRA Mello Yello Pro Stock champ Erica Enders-Stevens (above) entered the day not qualified but took little time rectifying that situation as she raced her Elite Motorsports Camaro to the No. 1 spot with a 6.516 at 213,10, top speed of the meet.
European Pro Stock champ and 2014 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals winner Jimmy Alund (below), driving one of the KB Racing team’s older GXPs, is qualified No. 11 after three sessions with a 6.543.
Shawn Langdon (above) was the star of a historic Top Fuel qualifying session, running 3.700, the quickest pass in history, to push the Knuckle Sandwich/AJPE entry into the No. 1 spot. Auto Club Raceway at Pomona is now home to four of the five quickest Top Fuel passes in history. The old best was the national-record-setting 3.701 by Antron Brown at the 2012 event in Reading. Langdon needs to run 3.737 to back up his pass and break Brown’s national record.
Spencer Massey (below) meanwhile went 332.18 mph, tying his own national record and the second-fastest speed ever; only Langdon’s 334.15 (also from Reading 2012) is faster.
Courtney Force (above) recorded her first career three-second pass, a 3.995, with the Traxxas Camaro SS to take over the No. 1 spot; her previous best was a 4.005.
Michael Iacono is driving Dan Fletcher’s Peak Camaro in Super Stock this weekend.
