Clearwater, FL — This has to be the craziest video/explosion that I have ever seen. First of all, I’ve never seen a Turbo Vega. Second of all, what the heck happened? What causes a transmission to just explode this way?
Fortunately, the driver is ok. Below is the response posted on YouTube:
“I would first like to give my appreciation to the track safety crew for their unbelievably fast response. Just as fast as any NHRA sanctioned track team.
A big turbo Chevy red lined at the starting line, resulting in the explosion of the transmission and fuel fire. The driver was extremely lucky to only sustain injuries to his foot.”
